Till Death Do Us Part?

A beautiful picture of a bride graced the second page of ST this morning. For a moment, I could hardly recognise the lady who was being featured. She looked stunning in a grecian way which was the theme of her wedding gown. The story went on to talk about her preparation for her upcoming wedding and her grand plans for babies.

Wasn't it just last year that she just broke out with her beau of XX years? How could one just fall in love as quickly as one could fall out of love?

One, or rather two other artistes whose love lives were in the news recently was the B&J. Breaking up cos of personality differences, and probably too much similarities maybe.

Though it probably takes two hands to clap to make a relationship works, and it also takes two hands to break up a relationship. But these two examples have unfortunately painted a very unflattering impression of the ladies, and I do wish the gentlemen who have so gallantly chosen them all the luck.

As the Chinese sayings go, it takes thousand years to have the chance to be husband and wife, the and Moon-Diety needed to work really hard to match that one couple. But these threads are too easily cut these days.

Bribe

The cool air from the room is a relieved welcome to my sticky arms. The room was already darkened and I could hear the baritone tone of Ajahn Brahm even from outside the room. That familiar accent and the soothing sound of his voice. Though it was disappointing not to be able to see him in real person on the 7th floor, it was still nice to be sitting on the floor, amongst the chanting mats on the 4th floor.

I am happy to see that he is keeping well. He was wearing his reading glasses, younger than ever, and no traces of fatigue on his face despite his travelling schedules. BF has done a wonderful job. There were many more volunteers, and they were very well-organised.

I think the crowd is now more matured buddhists as people are no longer asking questions pertaining to karma and why. Or maybe buddhists know our own problems and its just a matter of getting ourselves to reconcile that. Its all about awareness.

"How can we give up our job and concentrate on what we really enjoy doing?" A member of the audience asked.

"But that is what a salary is, isn't it? To bribe you into doing something that you do not really want to do."

Couldn't have found a more apt description.
